How can you grow your income?
It’s one of the top questions I get from coaching clients and prospects.
I can see why.
Heck, I ask myself that question all the time!
But the answers can feel overwhelming. There’s so much information and so many recommendations out there that you don’t know where to start. It feels like you should be doing a million things.
But when you distill all that advice, the answer isn’t all that complicated after all.
In today’s podcast episode, I take the thousands of ways you can grow your income and boil them down to five core factors.

If you really think about it, there are only five core ways to increase your income:
- Increase the number of leads you generate (outbound and inbound)
- Increase the number of leads you convert into clients
- Increase the number of projects you land (frequency of transactions)
- Increase your fees
- Increase the number of referrals you get (by taking a proactive stance)
Almost 99% of the time, writers think that the problem lies with number one—increasing the number of leads you generate.
And yes, this is true in some cases.
But still, it’s not a good idea to jump to conclusions.
Take a closer look and consider the other four factors. How are you doing in those areas?
I bet you’ll start seeing where the biggest or fastest opportunity lies—and I bet it’s not what you thought it was.
